Retail electricity prices are given as a cost per kilowatthour (kWh), a unit expressing an amount of electricity, and represent the average end cost to the consumer. These include residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation customers. MO’s average retail electricity price (11.06 ₵/kWh) is lower than the national average (12.94 ₵/kWh) (Energy Information Administration (EIA) 2025, Figure 1, Table 1). MO’s electricity price is the 21st lowest in the country. The average price in MO increased 0.19 ₵/kWh from 2023, compared to a 0.26 ₵/kWh increase in the national average. Power plant, transmission, and fuel costs influence the electricity price seen by consumers, as do weather conditions, power demand, and utilities regulations (EIA 2023).
